John E Hyde & Sons: An 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Independent Jump Centre Seconds Detached Lever Pocket Watch, signed John E Hyde & Sons, London, circa 1840, two spring barrel movement with a detached lever escapement 25 jewel movement, Breguet type parachute shock protection and compensation curb, enamel dial with Roman numerals, case with floral decorated outer borders, centre seconds start/stop slide in the band, inside back cover with maker's mark CFD and numbered 4072, case stamped K18, cuvette cover signed and numbered 4072, cuvette also engraved around the winding holes with a horse and stag 52mm wide

Case with surface scratches, case back engine turning is rubbed throughout, start/stop slide in the band to operate centre seconds hand is working, dial centre with a chip and hairline cracks coming from the centre, later minute hand is loose and needs better securing on the central arbor, both movement spring barrels are winding smoothly, balance is swinging, movement in going order, centre seconds hand is moving. Total watch weight 85.2g. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
