KNIFE WITH MEDALLIONS OF THE ELECTOR JOHN GEORGE III OF SAXONY (1647-1691)
Saxon, ca. 1680/90.
Conical silver handle tapering towards the collar, partly enameled in blue and decorated with flowers and two medallions. Both medallions inscribed IOH. GEOR. III D. G. EL SAX. Flat rounded handle cap with engraved rosette. Round handle collar with fish scale decoration. Blade with tip on the cutting edge. Smith's mark. Holder with inlaid enamel with applied medallions in embossed silver, gold and pewter as well as silver flower tendrils.
L 14 cm, L with holder 17 cm.

1 piece of cutlery missing. Losses and some rubbing. Traces of corrosion on the blade. Probably replaced medallions on the holder.
