KOTA-OBAMBA RELIQUARY FIGURE BY THE SEBE RIVER MASTER OF THE SKULL HEAD, GABON

Condition Report:
Very good condition overall for an object of this age and type with wear consistent with use. Some areas of old cracking to the brass and copper plates on the face, with small open areas showing the wood underneath, most notably along the edges of the reliefs, as partially visible in the catalogue illustration. Some minor marks, nicks, scratches, dents, and abrasions scattered in places. The lozenge is complete, with some scratches and abrasions, and traces of old insect damage to the lower part. Some whitish traces of old polish in places. Fine aged patina with a layered, encrusted surface to the wood of the lozenge and reverse. Has base.
