Koloman Moser (1868-1918), Die Quelle: Flachenschmuck; Eight numbered prints, 1901, Colour lithograph on paper, Published by Martin Gerlach, Vienna, Each 24.7cm x 29.5cm Footnote In 1900, Martin Gerlach published a 3-volume portfolio titled 'Die Quelle' devoted entirely to surface decoration. The third of these volumes was a collaboration with Koloman Moser titled Flachenschmuck (planar ornamentation) and contained 30 plates demonstrating Moser at the height of his talent as a graphic designer. Each colour plate was accompanied by a grey pattern on the reverse side. The publication served as inspiration for the Wiener Werkstatte.
