Korean Silla Grayware Jar w/ Incised Decoration

East Asia, Korea, Silla Dynasty, ca. 668 to 935 CE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery jar with a flat, circular base and smooth walls that expand outwards to a rounded shoulder, a slender, flanged neck, and an annular rim. Enveloped in mottled hues of ash and charcoal grays, the ancient vessel is decoratively incised along its shoulder with an undulating striation and vertical spiraling lines. Incised horizontal band additionally adorn the body of this lovely jar. Size: 5" in diameter x 5.5" H (12.7 cm x 14 cm)

Provenance: private California, USA collection acquired 1990s
