Koshirae - Cast iron, Wood, Shakudo - Japan - Edo Period (1600-1868)

Edo period Soten katana koshirae. 18 century. Signed tsuba with open work and gold and silver inlay. The design depicts fighting samurai. Signature: Mogarashi Nyudo Soten Sei (藻柄子入道宗典製) . Eshu Hikone Ju (江州彦根住) . Wooden tsuka with shakudo menuki and shakudo nanakoji fuchi kashira. The design is inlay with gold silver and shakudo and depicts fighting samurai. One of the samurai on the fuchi has a skull face. Black saya, tsunagi and two seppa. Very good condition no crack or damage just few scratches at the bottom of the saya. Total size: 1010mm Tsuba: 72mmx67mm Tsunagi (wooden blade) : 706mm (total size: 915mm) Sori: around 17mm Tsuka: 250mmx38mmx23mm Shipping from Japan with EMS (express mail service) with tracking number and inssurance. Around 10/15 days. Custom taxe may apply depending of your country. To the best of our knowledge we have tried to verify the signature, the signature of the tsuba is not guaranteed as there are no NBTHK or NTHK origami (certification paper) to go with the tsuba. To be reasonably certain as to the maker of a specific item, it is necessary to submit the tsuba for shinsa (judging) by one of the major Japanese sword study associations (NBTHK or NTHK) . These organizations will judge the item and issue appropriate papers (origami) attesting to the authenticity and/or historical importance.
