Just under 1 1/2" diameter. Copper, quartered with gathered motif top and bottom. The pin and ring gently bent indicative of its use with a thick leather armor jacket of brigandine type. These brooches were worn as personal adornment as well as protection against sword blows.. The use of pure copper is rare and suggests a supernatural significance as alloys were much more durable. The deflection in this example may have resulted from a sword blow. As found with surface encrusted from burial.
