Description: 12mo: 213-[22] pp.; 6 pl. (cut short without loss of text). - Pirated edition published the same year as the first ed. This account of a journey to West Africa and the Atlantic islands off the coast of Africa was made in 1682 by a physician of the "Hôtel-Dieu" in Paris, employed by the French "Compagnie royale d'Afrique", founded in 1560 in order to trade in North Africa. The author is often confused with the famous Dutch explorer Jacob Le Maire (1585-1616). Ill. (complete) with 1 fold. map (bay and harbour of Brest) and 5 views of huts, costumes and activities of inhabitants. Title-page in red and black. The privilege is also reproduced. - Ref.
