Condition (1-2) | Enamel sign / Porcelain sign, convex, stenciled and finely lithographed, NOR 1920s, 33 x 50 cmsigned: Schjieven, the "pride" of a woman perfectly depicted on enamel. This rarity from Norway can undoubtedly be described as one of the small auction highlights. It has been ages since such a piece could be purchased on the open market. Unfortunately, it is not known whether Schjieven was inspired by the works by Lindenstaedt known for his “Berlin Mothers” for the companies Blendol and Solifer at the time - the portraits of a proud “laundress” is at least what the designs have in common. The quality of the enameling, however, seems unsurpassable here – this sign is very glossy and has best color intensity. The orange background is on top, so that the laundry really does seem to blow in the light. | We do only sell old original pieces - no reproductions or fakes.
