Art/Identity/Migration: Property from Ben Uri Gallery and Museum
LILY DELISSA JOSEPH
1863-1940
TEATIME, BIRCHINGTON

oil on canvas
116 by 121.5cm.; 45¾ by 47¾in.
Executed in 1909.

Condition Report:
The canvas is lined. There is a small loss to the canvas to the extreme upper left corner, only visible upon close inspection. There are isolated areas of fine lines of craquelure to the work including to the upper right quadrant and below the table with further more minor instances elsewhere. There are possible historic associated flecks of loss to these areas. There is flattening to some of the impasto tips. There is possible evidence of an old frame. There is dirt, surface matter and studio detritus to the surface of the work.

Inspection under Ultraviolet light appears to reveal signs of fluorescence and probable retouching, including towards the edges with a few more minor instances elsewhere.

The work is presented in a wooden frame.
