LOT OF 6: AMERICAN SWORDS.

Lot consists of 6 U.S. swords and scabbards. A) Model 1860 staff and field, adopted in 1872 for general service and replaced by the 1902 pattern. Widely used by regular army and national guard units through the Spanish American War and adopted by other organizations such as the G.A.R. with minor changes. CONDITION: Good. Black leather grip with wire and brass hilt are very good. Blade is dark, but with good edge and point. Scabbard has brown coming up underneath. Throat missing. Other mounts in place. B) USN Model 1852 Officer's sword. Still in use. Modern production. CONDITION: Good. Black leather grip wrap in place. Wire loose. Rubbing to gold wash of brass hilt. Blade shows good etching and name in cartouche on lower half. Upper half shows gray spots and wear to lower edge. Scabbard body broken above drag, but no leather is missing. Brass mounts show some gilt. C) USN model 1852 officer's sword as above but with white sharkskin grip. CONDITION: Sword very good. Grip with binding wires in place, just minor rubbing to gilt finish. Sword knot in place. Blade bright with visible etching. Darkening slightly toward tip. Scabbard poor. Leather missing from steel body below middle mount with rust. Sword knot is very good. D) 1860/1872 staff and field as above, but higher grade. Grip is solid cast with faceted spiral roping. Blade is nicely etched with presentation that reads "Presented to Captain W.M. Judge by Co. A Hibernian Rifles of New York Jan 28th 1884." CONDITION: Very Good. Blade shows some slight shifting to gray, but etching is distinct. Scabbard with open work brass mounts is good, but with dull finish and wear spots to plated body. E) Militia light cavalry style with steel scabbard. Bird head pommel. Iron stirrup guard. Ricasso marked "Fische." CONDITION: Good. Leather grip is missing, exposing grip wood and cording. Blade is gray with light brown areas of thin rust. Will clean. Iron scabbard with carrying rings in place. F) US 1913 Patton style cavalry saber with 1917 date and scabbard. The regulation US cavalry saber designed by George Patton, in use on the Mexican border Campaign and World War I. CONDITION: Good. Minor blade spotting near hilt and scrapes to guard. Grip very good. Blade pad in place. Dark section to blade near the end of the fuller with shallow freckling, edge roughness and two nicks. Scabbard good, but with frayed spot to brown canvas scabbard cover near the drag. Some wear to paint of mounts.
