This Large, quality framed colored engraving is based on a painting by John Sturgess, engraved by W. Summers, and printed in Berlin by Stiebold and Company in 1878. It depicts a panoramic view of an English Fox hunt with a multitude of hunters, horses, and dogs in incredible detail, along with the busy life of the 19th Century Aristocracy and gentry. It is in a quartersawn oak frame with a gilded inner border. The print itself is attatched to canvas over a stretched frame. It is titled "Fox Hunting Plate #1, a Favorite Fixture". This 19th Century print of important size measures 33.5" tall X 54.5"across. There are some watermarks around the blank print areas that border the imagery.
