Female Cult Figure
Superb statue, very slender, with an aerial, modern and energetic look
The hands are placed on the shoulders, scarifications are typical and numerous. Beautiful dark patina.
Unfortunately, feet and lower legs are missing, there is a big defect at the haircut and it has a recent blow to one of the hands. It is still a very impressive piece
The Luba are a great people in eastern DRC.
Their caryatid seats, their cup holders, chiefs' sticks, arrow holders, adzes and cult statues are very famous and among the most valued objects in African Art.
