Large Antique Allegorical Figural Gilt Bronze Clock with Sevres Porcelain ca 1870
This is a real beauty, an eye catcher for every home.
Impressive large clock has gilt bronze base and patinated bronze figurine, probably of Ceres who is God of Corn or of the Earth and Fertility.
This clock was made in France in the second part of 19th century approx around 1870.
Blue Hand painted Sevres porcelain inserts are made with really marvellous intense colours and gilt relief apply.
Porcelain is in excellent condition.
Clock has some absent parts which were the part of the attributes as you can see on the pictures.
Porcelain dial with Roman numerals is in very good condition.
French movement is in good running and striking condition with 8 days going work and at the 1/1 and 1/2 hours striking on a silvered bronze bell. The movement stamped with serial number 1885
Key, bell and pendulum included.
