Large Qingbai Ewer and Warming Basin

Possibly Song Dynasty (960-1279)

The ewer cover with lion finial, the ovoid body with strap handle and a gently curved upright spout, the circular warming basin with scalloped rim, both carved and with finely incised stylized flower decoration and covered overall with a transparent, pale bluish white glaze.

Note: Blue tint of the 'qingbai' glaze and the ovoid shape rather than the straight sided vessels as well as the incised decoration shows that this piece is from a southern kiln.
