Large Roman Iridescent Green Glass Pitcher

3rd-4th century AD. A green glass pitcher with iridescent surface, flared foot, drum-shaped body, narrow neck and trumpet-shaped mouth with applied trail below, broad strap handle. Cf. Whitehouse, D., Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.2, New York, 2001, item 714, for type.350 grams, 20.5cm (8"). Property of a Brussels collector; formerly in an old German collection formed in the 1990s.
