Late 18th Century Scottish School. A Portrait of a Young Boy, possibly Robert Rae of Aikenhead House with Glasgow Cathedral in the distance, Oil on Canvas, Inscribed on a label verso, 32" x 50" (81.3 x 127cm). Notes: Robert Rae was the son of Colin Rae who owned Aikenhead House. Robert died on 29th October 1779, aged 11 and was buried at Catchart. The landscape in the distance of this work appears to show the Campsie Fells north of Glasgow, with Glasgow Cathedral in the distance
