North America, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful and fine-grained goblet made from a hollowed and shaved coconut. The cup is comprised of a dark-brown coconut shell with a smooth rim and polished to a lustrous sheen. The cup has a nicely turned wooden pedestal foot. Cups like this example were typically used in royal dinners, celebrations, or other events of regal importance. Size: 3.875" in diameter x 5.625" H (9.8 cm x 14.3 cm)
