Late 19th C. Thai Wood, Shell & Iron Coconut Grater

Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden coconut grater in the form of a recumbent rabbit laying with slender legs tucked beneath its bulbous body. The raised head is conical in form and features a pair of ovoid shell eyes, two lengthy ears draped along its back, and a curved, serrated grating tool ensconced within the mouth. Size: 20.7" L x 4.75" W (52.6 cm x 12.1 cm)
