Lega Male Zigzag Figure, D. R. Congo

Beautiful abstract Nkumba figure with mask-like head, the heart shaped face with simplified features, the body an angled line with the genitalia the only feature, the body terminating in a single foot. Collected circa 1960s. Mounted to gallery stand. Figure approx. 9" H, with stand approx. 11" H.
Provenance: Estate of Thomas McNemar, (1931-2019.) McNemar lived and collected throughout Central and West Africa in the 1960s and 70s. He established galleries of African Art in New York and San Francisco, selling to museums and public and private collections in the United States and Europe.
