Provenance:-Collection Gerti Bierenbroodspot (1940), the niece of the artist, Amsterdam.-Private collection, the Netherlands.

In 1929, a devastating fire swept through Leo Gestel's studio in Bergen, resulting in the tragic loss of approximately 400 works of art. Among the ruins, this drawing emerged as one of the rare survivors, its edges bearing witness to the destructive force of the calamity.
