A significant philosophical letter to Albert Einstein, wherein Schlick addresses topics relating to modern physics, including causality and general relativity. In the same year as this letter (1920), Schlick published a major work in discussing the philosophical implications of relativity and the new physics - "Space and Time in Contemporary Physics" - which brought him to international fame. The most important philosopher of science in the 20th century, Schlick founded The Vienna Circle, a group of major intellectuals (including Wittgenstein) exploring and developing the scientific philosophy of logical positivism.
