Artist Biography: Liana Fernandez de Castro - Phibbs (Cuban- American, d. 2011) was born in Cuba and studied art at the Universidad de La Habana and the Academia de San Alejandro. In 1961, following the Cuban Revolution (1953-1959), led by Fidel Castro, she fled to the United States. Her work is iconic for its bright color palette and nostalgic, abstract imagery.
