Herbert Bayer was an influential artist at the Bauhaus. After studying with Wassily Kandinsky he became master of the art school's printing department in 1925. His work became the face of Bauhaus design with his typeface Universal being used in all official Bauhaus publications. He became an important bridge between European and American art when he immigrated to the United States in 1938. Embossment at lower left margin.
