Long letter by Rabbi Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Erev Pesach, Jerusalem 1933.

A lengthy letter written and signed on Erev Pesach by Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, written to his brother, R' Tzvi Epstein who was a Rav in Chicago.

In the letter, R' Moshe Mordechai is thanking his brother for his donation to the Yeshiva and he's writing that the Bnei Ha'Yeshiva are in a terrible hunger situation. Then R' Moshe Mordechei writes about his health and thanks Hashem that he was able to give over his Shiur in the Yeshiva.

Letter written on his personal stationary.

"בעת הזאת אשר ממש להשביר הרעב אשר בו נתונים בני הישיבה".

"....ובחסדי השם הגדתי שיעורים בהישיבה"

"וה' יחוס על הישיבה הק', שהוא תפארת לבית ישראל"

Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein (1866 - 1934) was the Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of Slabodka-Chevron. He was a prominent Lithuanian Torah leader and one of the founders of the Lithuanian Agudas HaRabbanim. In 1923 he participated in the grand Agudas Yisrael convention that took place in Vienna and was one of the lead speakers there. He was selected to join the international Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah. In 1929, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai transferred a large share of his yeshiva to the city of Chevron, Eretz Yisrael. During the Chevron Massacres of 1929, several of his yeshiva students were murdered. This took a heavy toll on Rabbi Moshe Mordechai’s health and led to his eventual passing.
