⁂ Lord Grenville's copy of the rare first annotated Plantin edition of Catullus. It was edited by Giselinus, who had also edited Prudentius and Ovid for Plantin, as well as working as a proof-reader. The printed side-notes mostly give variant readings by Pontanus, Turnebus, Muretus, Fabricius, Statius, Scaliger, and others. The Tibullus is edited by Theodorus Pulmannus and the separately paginated Propertius by Willem Canter.

Provenance: William Wyndham Grenville, 1st Baron (1759-1834) British Prime Minister (1806-1807) and Chancellor of Oxford University (1810-1834). The stamps used for the binding were cut for the Chancellor's Prize books of Oxford University.
