Lot of 3 Early 20th C. Fante Wooden Female Figures

West Africa, Ghana, Fante peoples, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A lovely ensemble of three hand-carved wooden female figures. The shortest figure is characteristically abstract with a flat rectangular body incised with linear motifs, globular breasts, and a triangular head atop a slender neck. The medium and tallest figures stand with cylindrical bodies atop delineated legs and have tall foreheads capped with arching semicircular handles. The tallest figure is adorned in several strands of colorful beads. Size of largest (figure w/ beads): 1.875" W x 12.3" H (4.8 cm x 31.2 cm); 13.4" H (34 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.; ex-Arte Primitivo Gallery, New York, New York, USA

Condition Report: All figures have light abrasions to bodies, heads, and legs where applicable, with softening to some finer details, and stable hairline fissures, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and fine patina throughout.
