Lot of 3 Egyptian New Kingdom Alabaster Jars
**Originally Listed At $800**
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1549 to 1076 BCE. A fabulous ensemble of three nicely-preserved jars, each carved by hand from creamy-yellow alabaster with attractive white veins coursing throughout; the veins illuminate when held to the light. The smallest jar has a slender, lightly-rounded body with a petite foot and a flush rim. The second vessel is the widest of the three and has a corseted neck line beneath a rolled rim. The tallest has an inverted piriform body of an elegant presentation, with a finely-formed rim, and a deep interior cavity. The interior of each jar was drilled out using a series of progressively finer bits as well as copious amounts of abrasive sand, and evidence of the original drill marks are still visible within each vessel.
