Lot of 4 Inca Textile Gauze Fragments

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A fine group of rectangular textile panels composed of loosely-woven fibers in a gauze-like style in hues of cream and coffee. One panel has a brown-and-white color scheme with a cresting wave motif. The second panel is quite intricate and features abstract maskettes that alternate in direction. The largest panel is of a lace-like form and boasts registers of abstract avian figures. An incredibly elegant collection from the ancient Inca! Size of largest (abstract avian motif): 20" L x 12.5" W (50.8 cm x 31.8 cm).

Provenance: private Allison collection, Kent, Washington, USA, inherited in the mid-1970s
