Lot of 4 Scythian Pins - 2 Copper & 2 Bronze

Western Asia and Siberia, Scythian culture, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. An attractive ensemble of two copper and two bronze pins. Cast from copper, the two smaller pins both display slender, tapered tangs and flared heads that coil into themselves at their tops. One of these ancient implements presents a broad, flat head. The larger pins each feature a lengthy tang and a sizable head that flares out to form a palm frond-like shape. All enveloped in a rich, sea foam green patina, these lovely pins are fascinating utilitarian examples from ancient Scythian culture! Size of largest: 8" L x 4" W (20.3 cm x 10.2 cm)

Provenance: private Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA collection, acquired in 1996; ex-private Hollywood, Florida, USA collection

Condition Report: One larger pin slightly bent near end. Lightly abraded areas commensurate with age and use. Miniscule chip to loop of smallest. Otherwise, all are excellent with lovely green patina throughout.
