Lot of Two 18th C. European Glass Bottles

Western Europe, The Netherlands, ca. mid-18th century CE; Great Britain, England, ca. late 18th to early 19th century CE. A fine set of two glass bottles with thick walls, concave bases with rough pontil scars, rounded shoulders, and tapered necks. The smaller Dutch vessel is a free-blown 'Dutch onion' bottle that has a squat rim atop its neck and is made of verdant yellow-green glass. The larger English bottle was formed via a drop mold and has a taller rim, traces of its original cork, and is formed from glass of an amber-yellow hue. Size of largest (corked): 3.9" W x 8.625" H (9.9 cm x 21.9 cm).

Condition Report: Larger vessel has small chips to rim and losses to top sections of original cork. Smaller vessel has its fragmentary cork inside the body. Both vessels have minor abrasions and micro-bubbling within the glass matrix. Rough pontil scars indicate the vessels were formed by hand. Light earthen deposits throughout.
