Lots (1-40) from The Geoffrey and Fay Elliot Collection: Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, French 1859-1923 - Cat; black ink on paper, signed lower left 'Steinlen', 17.5 x 16 cm Provenance: The Geoffrey and Fay Elliot Collection and thence by descent Note: Steinlen was a French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker, most recognized for his poster advertising the tour of Le Chat Noir's cabaret tour from 1896. He had an affection for cats and often included them in his work.
Overmatted, held in a wooden frame with minor scuffs. Paper has yellowed, commensurate with age. Several spots of foxing. concentrated on the left side. While not examined out of the frame, evidence of mat burn about all edges.
