Louis XVI-style Side Chairs, Attributed to Leon

American, early 19th century. A pair of Louis XVI-style ebonized side chairs, attributed to Leon Marcotte, having arched crest rails, one with central brass foliate cartouche, square back frames highlighted with brass beading, and upholstered seats with brass mounted seat rails and rosettes, rising on trumpet carved and fluted legs; ht. 38, wd. 19.5, dp. 19 in. (each).

Provenance: Property Sold to benefit the Art Acquisition Fund at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields
Condition Report: Item is in overall good condition. the interior of the seat rails have restorations with new corner blocks, additions to the stiles base along with a metal bracket. These restorations may have been added to preserve the chairs from further warping and may be easily removed.
