Lucas Vorsterman (1595-1675), after Rubens - De aanbidding van de wijzen

Engraving after a work by Pieter Paul Rubens.

In 1618 Lucas Vorsterman (1595-1675) was able to start work as an engraver in Rubens' studio in Antwerp. Vorsterman, like several of the other engravers with whom Rubens worked, was born in the Netherlands, in Zaltbommel. In 1620 he was registered as a citizen in Antwerp.
Around 1622 the collaboration between Rubens and Vorsterman came to an end.

Commissioned by Rubens, Vorsterman made 9 engravings after large works by Rubens himself. This adoration is one of them and is the mirror image of the original work that hangs in the main altar of the St. John's Church in Mechelen.
The work is in good condition considering its age.
There are no tears or damage to the paper. There are age spots present.

The print itself measures 59 by 43. 5 cm.
The frame measures 83 by 65 cm
