Although of non-academic training, having studied with Silvestro Lega in the years in which the latter frequented the Tommasi villa in Bellariva, Ludovico demonstrated a certain pictorial inclination from a very young age. His brushstrokes, full of emotional vibrations, testify to his particular sensitivity for colour. If, in the initial phase of the study, he concentrated on the realistic reproduction of the landscape en plein air in the 1990s, after meeting Plinio Nomellini and due to the latter's influence, his painting became more sentimental, the brushstrokes fell apart, approaching more to a pictorial style of divisionism. Considering the painter's biography, our painting can be dated to the ninth decade of the 19th century.
