Luigi Paris (1925-2020)

The pine grove of San Vitale

Oil on tablet

Born in Bergamo on February 8, 1925, the first of three children. He began painting as a self-taught artist at 17 and in 1953 attended free drawing courses at the Carrara Academy.
He participates in dozens of group exhibitions and numerous art events, including the Rome Biennale, the Bologna Sacred Art Biennale, the Suzzara Award, the Parma Art Biennale, the National Competition "Jesus Worker" (awarded) , and the Confindustria National Competition in Rome, where he has been awarded in 12 editions.
He works with various techniques and different materials ranging from tempera to collage, from Indian ink to charcoal, from cement to sanguine, but oil remains his main technique. His preferred subjects are landscapes (many views of Bergamo) and still lifes, but his series of scarecrows, puppets, and sailboats are also very impactful.
