Luristan Bronze Sword or large Persian dagger / Luristan bronze handle with inlay - 26.8×3.2×0.9 cm

Bronze sword from ancient Persia (about 1200 BC) . It comes from the western region of Iran, known for its great mastery of bronze, having produced the so-called ‘Luristan’ objects. The hilt has an elaborate shape. It was inlaid with some material, probably ivory or bone. The blade has a sectioned lenticular shape. The marks on the edge show that it was used. The dagger has been partially cleaned. The residual patina is a mixture of green and brown with some interesting crystalline formations. The total length of this piece exceeds 26 cm. Information regarding the origin: Purchased by the present owner in November 2019 in France. From: PHD, Lot No. 14091 Previous history: old private French collection assembled in the 1970s. The seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally, declaration of provenance seen by Catawiki. Important information: The seller guarantees that he/she is allowed to sell/export this item.
