Luristan Copper Mace Head w/ Dangerous Spikes

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A copper mace head of a generally cylindrical form, intended to fit a long metal or wooden staff, with 3 rows of 3 long, pointy spikes embellishing the upper end. Quite intimidating! Bronze Age Luristan art was the work of nomadic herdsmen and horsemen who crafted small, portable objects, including daggers, swords, and other weapons. Weapons like this mace head were traditionally entombed in the small rock graves of their owners. Size: 1.5" W at widest point x 3.375" H (3.8 cm x 8.6 cm)
