This rare and handsome Russian map depicts the Russian Empire during the reign of Alexander I. It was engraved by Alexsandr Dmitrievich Savinkov for the Saint Petersburg Imperial Map Depot. The title, key, and text on map are in Cyrillic. The map covers the Russian Empire from the Baltic as far east as Tomsk. It divides the region into provinces and includes plenty of place names. Postal roads are delineated. The northern parts of the Black and Caspian seas are shown. Much of the eastern portion of the map, including present-day Kazakhstan, is left largely blank. Dissected and backed in linen with original green ribbon edging.
