MEDIEVAL PEASANTS RING C.1404-1500.

This interesting ring is in as found condition. It is bronze, size 6 ½ with a 2.6mm width band and oval bezel mounted with an imitation stone. Until the evolution of modern chemistry, adhesives lagged well behind other commercial/industrial achievements. This ring is rare in retaining its original glass imitation “stone”. It is banded in “lamp work” which means that a trail of semi molten glass was spread along side another contrasting as in bead production. The bonding agent (adhesive) is unknown to us and remarkable for its endurance. Very rare.
