The underside with crossed swords in underglaze blue, and with an incised numeral F261 and the number 10. The figure poised before a draped pedestal, in his iconic colorful diamond pattern breeches, black bowtie, cap and mask. Height 11 in.

The Meissen figure of Nijinsky as Harlequin was created in 1913, by Paul Scheurich, following the 1910 premier of Michael Fokine’s ballet, Le Carnival, danced by Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe, with Nijinsky in the leading role as Harlequin. (COND: ONE FINGER DAMAGED)
