Steven Holtzman founded Maîtres du Temps in 2005. The brand aimed to gather horological masters in creation of masterpieces. Speake Marin, Roger Dubuis and Daniel Roth collaborated with Maîtres du Temps on Chapter One and Two.

Introduced in 2013, Andreas Strehler and Kari Voutilainen designed Maître du Temps Chapter 3, the first piece from the brand with more traditional case dimensions and design. This did not mean a compromise in the extraordinary complications the brand has become known for with Chapter 1 and 2; with the press of the button on the crown the apertures at 6 and 12 open to reveal a second time zone on the signature rollers of the brand, with hand painted day and night indicator. The present watch employs the hues of dusk and dawn, with an iridescent blue dial and a sculpted pink gold case, further hinting at the day/night motif.
