[ translate ]

Great and uncommon specimen. Malagasy hippopotamus lived on the island of Madagascar but are now believed to be extinct. The different colouring of the two parts of the skull is due to the different depth of the find. The lighter part was exposed to the sun, which lightened its colour. Upper part: 46x24. 5x18. 5 - 2110g Lower part: 43x29x20. 5 - 2750g Total dimensions: 46x31. 5x29 Total weight: 4860g Notes: The tusks in this lot are part of another specimen.
