Malta.- Photograph album of landscape and interior scenes in Malta, 15 albumen prints, including 3 folding panoramic scenes of the Sliema, and fortification front of Valletta, panoramas each 1005 x 195mm (41 1/4 x 7 3/4in), plates each (200 x 165mm (7 3/4 x 10 1/4in), first few leaves detached, light toning to edges, panorama corners a little creased, original boards, upper cover detached, endpapers browned, [late 19th century]; and 2 other European scenic albums, including one of Ravenna in engraved wooden binding, folio (3)
⁂ An excellent photograph album of pre-war images of Malta. Known to be one of the most intensively bombed areas during the war, the album accounts for some lost buildings, as well as the now much-changed Valletta waterfront. Includes a view of the Porta Reale which was built in 1853 and demolished in 1964, the front and back of the Porte de Bombes after the addition of a second archway in 1868, and others.
