The present painting is a copy after the original by Teniers, dated to the 1640s, which was sold at Sotheby's, London, on 3rd December 2014, lot 28.
Condition report:
Oil on canvas which has been lined. The canvas tension is stiff and the picture is in plane. There are areas of loss to the paint layer and large areas of overpaint, mainly located in the sky. The overpaint is crudely applied and had darkened. The buildings and figures are in a better condition. The varnish has yellowed and opaque hazing has formed along the cracks.
