Manuel Laureano Rodrà guez Sánchez, universally known as Manolete (Córdoba, 4 July 1917 - Linares, Jaén, 29 August 1947), was one of the great masters in the history of bullfighting in Spain. He is an icon of bullfighting for his elegant and vertical style, and for evolving the art of the muleta by bullfighting from the front and citing from the side. He is considered one of the great masters of all time and became a myth in the history of bullfighting when, in the bullring of Linares, the bullfighter Islero gored him deeply and killed him. Here we auction some of the objects that belonged to the Fourth Caliph of Bullfighting, an honorary title that has historically been awarded to the great matadors of the province of Cordoba, which were used by the bullfighter in bullrings in Spain and Latin America, such as those in Mexico and Lima. "Manolete's bullfighter's costume in purisima and gold, consisting of jacket, waistcoat and taleguilla.
