"Pervviae avriferae regionis typvs." [Antwerp, ca. late 1500s.] On laid, printed text to verso. Sheet measures 22" x 17". Quite clean and attractive, some very light soiling. Tipped to foam board at upper margin and matted – ready to frame. Nicely hand-colored. ***************************** THE FIRST ATLAS MAP DEPICTING THE AMERICAN SOUTHEAST (i.e. "La Florida.") It's one of the few 16th century maps that was based upon original Spanish sources. An attractive map.
