Marcel Breuer - Gavina - Wassily B3 chair
Iconic "Wassily B3" armchair/chair designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 and sold by Gavina from 1962. Original Gavina model (first edition) , steel frame treated with chrome plating, seat, armrests and backrest in high-quality grey leather, still original from the purchase, never replaced or restored.
. The armchair comes from a private collection and was purchased at an official Cassina store in Milan (which sells exclusive designer furniture) , along with items of furniture and accessories by Cassina, Flexform, Unopiù, Gavina and Bieffeplast, in the late 1980s/early 1990s (some of these items have been sold in previous auctions on this website) . This item is in very good condition, as evinced from the photos, virtually like new, with original leather trim, and only minor age-related signs of wear to report. Perfect frame, in excellent condition. The sticker with the word "Gavina" was removed from the frame by the owners, as it was conspicuous and unsightly, but the armchair can be recognised by its distinguishing features, such as the burnished steel screws and nuts, contrasting with the frame, the top quality leather and the tubular steel parts finished with the utmost care (these can clearly be seen in the photos) .
