Letter to Smith Thompson, the chief justice of the New York State Supreme Court, in full: "I enclose you a letter I rec'd from Mr. Sanford. Mrs. V. Buren, her mother & one of my boys have all been very sick for some days & remain so. Mr. Cantine who came to see them was also rather down last night, so that my house is a perfect hospital." In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, and a seal-related stain.
