Mary Kathryn Massey American (b.1953) Still Life with Sake Pitcher and Oranges oil on board signed lower right. Biography from Debbie Leeuw Fine Art M. Kathryn Massey is a Signature Member of the American Academy of Women Artists. She also holds membership with Oil Painters of America, Audubon Artists, Allied Artists of America, and American Artist Professional League among others. Ms. Massey published an article/images in the Jan/Feb 04 issue of "Pastel Journal" addressing the benefits of working in at least two media, (oil/pastel). She is to be included in a new book on painting still life and florals published by International Artist Magazine, release date in 2005. In 2004, her exhibitions included American Academy Women Artists, Signature Show, Jackson Hole, Wy; Pastel Society of America, 32nd Annual Open, National Arts Club, NYC; Hoosier Salon, New Harmony Gallery exhibited a solo show; and, juried into the 80th Annual Hoosier Salon Exhibition, Indiana State Museum, the third consecutive year. She received an Honorable Mention, International Artist Magazine, open competition, 2004. In March 2003, Ms. Massey was included among 23 international artists in "Still Life in Oils" published by AVA Publications and distributed through Amazon.com. In September, she was invited by the Hoosier Salon as one of two artists to present, "Fresh Paint, New Works" by M Kathryn Massey and Judith S. Lewis. In 2002, Ms. Massey held a solo exhibit in Santa Fe and was part of a two-person exhibition in Atlanta. Included among her awards and recognitions in 2002: Winner, Best of Show, Grumbacher Gold Medallion, American Academy of Women Artists; Winner, First Place, Annual Signature Show, American academy of Women Artists; and Winner, Audubon artists, American Artist Professional League award. Ms. Massey teaches both at the Indianapolis Art Center and privately. 7 1/2 inches high by 11 1/4 inches wide (sight), and the frame measures 14 3/4 inches high by 18 3/4 inches wide.
